Instagram’s Video Editing App Edits to Add Teleprompter Feature

Since launching, Instagram has been steadily rolling out new updates to Edits, its standalone video editing app. Just last week, it added new effects and filters. In the coming weeks, it is reportedly set to launch a teleprompter feature, allowing creators to read scripts while recording videos directly within the app.

Why It Matters: Each update makes Edits more competitive with tools like CapCut by giving creators greater control and flexibility, all within Instagram’s ecosystem. While the teleprompter may seem like a small addition, it’s a powerful feature for scripted content, making it easier to create polished talking-head videos, brand collaborations, educational clips, and more, from the convenience of their phones.

As Instagram expands its native creator tools, updates like this reduce reliance on third-party apps and strengthen Edits as a primary editing solution for creators already active on the platform. The easier Instagram makes content creation, the more likely creators are to stay engaged and publish natively.
